Now that he's eating solid foods three times a day - this week is squash...very yummy - he's spending more and more time in his high chair. He likes it there because he has a good view of Felix, he can look out the window (a new interest), and can see us while we do things in the kitchen.
We often leave toys on his tray for him to play with and/or throw on the floor. He quickly learned that throwing all of his toys on the floor will get our attention and bring us over to pick them up. Now he's moving on to new uses. Today I noticed that he was banging his Haba ring on the leg of the high chair as a means of getting Felix's attention. Check it out.
Clearly Felix knows Alastair's game and won't give him the satisfaction of reacting. You'll notice that AGR's heart isn't wholly into it on the video. He's keenly away of the camera and despite my hiding in the living room he knew the tape was rolling.
Being the charming cad that he is, Alastair received a few 6 month birthday presents from some of his more ardent admirers, including Rebecca and Erich (thanks guys!), who were kind enough to send along a few things, including a hat. We go on about how large his head is - it's in the 97th percentile for his age - so they smartly sent one sized for 18-24 month olds. That would certainly be big enough, right? Um, no. Check it out:

Nice try Zimmermanns. Next time go for the 4-year old sizes. Pretty soon Alastair will be able to borrow his daddy's hats.

We're certainly tired of winter here, and imagine that many of you are as well, so I'll close this post with something that will undoubtedly warm your hearts. What was the internet invented for if not for videos of giggling babies?
Take that Mr. Groundhog.

Felix has much better manners than Paco & Roy. They both like to wait beneath the high chair for stray food. And sometimes Roy gets very assertive and tries to steal food from Isaac's hands.
You have defeated us once AGR, we will not be tricked by your deceptively large head again.
